red - elle dort dans le grand rouge - v1.06 IMOUTOsoft 2013 === GAMEPLAY HELP === The confirm key ('Z' by default) allows you to advance past text boxes and make choices when interacting with menus. Menus can also typically be cancelled; try the cancel key ('X' by default). You can select different choices using the arrow keys. Your main interface to the game is from a top-down perspective. You can move your character around with the arrow keys and interact with most objects simply by moving into them - for example, to open chests, converse people and flip switches. Occasionally, either as a result of fixed events or simply by chance when you are wandering around a location, you will end up in combat with one or more enemies. Use the confirm and cancel keys to interact with the menus you are presented with, selecting attacks and arts to use on your foes, healing items to use on your friends etc. The actions available during combat are: [Attack] Attack a foe with your currently equipped weapon. Note that, unless you have a ranged weapon (such as a bow) you will be unable to target enemies in the back row until you have taken care of all the enemies in the front row. [Art] Use a mystical art, either on your enemies or yourself to access powerful harmful or beneficial effects. These consume energy and you will typically be unable to use any arts if you lack the energy required. [Guard] Protect yourself or one of your allies from attacks. When used on yourself, this will boost your defences temporarily. When used on an ally, you will have a chance of receiving attacks directed at that ally. [Item] Use a consumable (such as a healing poultice) or change weapons or ammunition in the middle of battle. Note that changing weapons and/or ammo can be done without using a turn. [Escape] Attempt to flee from battle. Battles that result from fixed events and not random encounters typically cannot be fled from, while most normal battles can be. Even when you are able to escape, it is by no means guaranteed. Your chances are better if your agility is higher. While you are in the top-down perspective, you can access the in-game menu using the menu key (Enter/Return by default.) This will allow you to access items out of battle as well as equip your party with weapons and armour. You can also rearrange your party, check the status of your party members and save or restore your game. All of the key combinations described previously can be changed in the 'adjust settings' menu that is available when you start the game. Up to two keys can be assigned to each action. If you get hurt, most population centres have an inn that will restore your entire party to full health for a relatively low price. This won't cure petrification if your party members are affected by it, but it should be able to heal everything else. For the most part, 'red' is not a particularly "handholding" RPG; while the game does force you down a fairly narrow path for the earliest parts, after that it will only nudge you in the direction you should be going next. If you get stuck, try talking to important characters again; while the majority of people you see in towns are unimportant and typically do not need to be spoken to more than once, the proprietors of the mystical shops can be helpful when you are looking to progress the story. === ADDITIONAL INFORMATION === - You can hold down the [Tab] key in battles to speed them up. - You can hold down the cancel key in the field to run, allowing you to move twice as quickly - If the game - specifically the battles - runs too slow on your system, you may be able to alleviate this somewhat by creating a file (the contents of the file don't matter) called low_performance.___ in the game directory. This will run the battles at a lower framerate which may make them more bearable. === CREDITS === Game Design - Lancer-X Programming - Lancer-X Writing - Lancer-X Beta Testing - Wervyn Graphics: Tileset Graphics - Lancer-X Battle Backgrounds - Lancer-X Field Sprites: Dragon - Lachesis Others - Lancer-X Battle sprites: Abomination - Lachesis Ami - Lancer-X Bat - Lancer-X Bees - Lachesis Bird - Lancer-X Blob - Lancer-X Crawler - Lancer-X Dea - Lancer-X Dragon - Lachesis Droid - Lancer-X Eye - Lancer-X Future Trooper - Otto Germain Gobbo - Otto Germain Golem Bot - Otto Germain Jelly - Lancer-X JQV - Lancer-X Mimic - Lancer-X Moth - Lancer-X My 'Shroom Pal - Lachesis Oxala - Lancer-X Reaper - Otto Germain Shell - Lancer-X Skullworm - Otto Germain Spider - Lancer-X Sword - Lancer-X Trash - Lancer-X Trooper - Otto Germain Music: Red (red.ogg) The Anxiety - Takumaru (Native Sense) Cave (cave.ogg) Ghost-tte shitteru? - Mizutsuki Ryou (KIYO) Battle (battle.ogg) EDM - Elements Garden Eden World (world.ogg) Twilight Moon - Barbarian on the Groove Town (town.ogg) Asagao - Matsumoto Shinichirou (M.U.T.S.)
